Through the front entrance of the building, one enters the Public Hall, with its 24-metre high ceiling supported by two large concrete pillars. The first things to catch your notice are the expanse of marble flooring, the ramps leading down to the cafeteria and up to courtrooms 2 and 3, and one of the two large murals designed by artist Jan Senbergs. Click on the mural for a closer look.

On the wall halfway up the main ramp you see the painting of the first sitting of the High Court in 1903. Click on the painting for a closer look.

Beneath and to the left of the murals is the display area, which includes interesting historical items concerning the history and operation of the Court, and a theatrette featuring a short film about the Court's judicial work. Directly beneath the murals is the entrance to the main courtroom, Courtroom 1. Adjacent to the entry to Courtroom 1 is a display cabinet with a life size replica of Sir Edward McTiernan Click on the cabinet for a closer look.

Turning right past the ramps, you look out under the main portico of the building, where staff, legal practitioners and bus tours enter. Further to the right, one looks back out the glassed front entrance and sees the ceremonial ramp leading down to King Edward Terrace.
